Cat in a Bag - taken before England, obviously, but in same batch of photos.

Let the cat out of the bag!

The town of Arundel

A look at the old portion of Arundel Castle. Some of it was built in the 1300's (i beleive), others in the 1800's.

Me on some steps. Michael took this picture - not the best one :P

Ian and Liz hamming it up on the walls of Old Sarum

A snail that Ian became enamoured with.

The view from Old Sarum - pretty!

We didn't stop at Stonehenge - but we drove by it. Why is it always cloudy whenever me, or anybody i know, goes even near Stonehenge?

More Stonehenge

We went to Avebury Henge instead - which is much larger and more accessible than Stonehenge. It is this large stone circle, inside of which, the cute little town of Avebury has been built. It had a few stones that had happy faces, like this one.

More rocks

Another happy face stone.

Me beside a stone.

We were there just after the summer solstice, and we figured that Avebury must have been used for some pagan / wiccan ceremonies of some type. We found all sorts of interesting things in the crevices of the rocks: amulets, vials of blood, and candles.

On one side of the town, the henge runs through what is now sheep fields. This is Liz and some sheep. We like the sheep.

Sheep!

Ian making friends.

Rocks.

This is after we got to Budleigh Salterton, and met up with my parents and some relatives at the local pub. L-R: My dad, his cousin-in-law (?) Phillipa, My mom, and my dad's cousin Adrian (Phillipa's husband).

My great-aunt Doreen talking to Min

Everybody says that my dad looks like his father (unfortunately deceased 10 years), but i think he looks alot like my grandmother.

Ian looking dumbstruck at something Min has to say

Yummy and pretty cake

Various revellers! They set up a tent / marquee thing in my grandmother's back yard - which is a good thing 'cause it poured later that afternoon

More party fun

Various folk. Note all the senior citizens - that's not just 'cause of my grandmother's age, but also very representative of the town, which is a retirement community of sorts.

My dad giving a speech

He made my grandmother cry.

Cutting the cake

My grandmother and her little brother, Dennis

I had rather alot to drink, and felt like some quiet time, so i went for a walk in the garden. Here, a pretty poppy!

Fushias

Red currants

Snapdragons

Pretty orange flowers

A pig! My grandmother thinks pigs are amusing, and somebody got here this one that walked and snorted.

After a while, everybody left except for the family. One unfortunate note, my cousins (my dad's brother's children - my dad's brother John died 12 years ago :P) couldn't make it, and they were missed. My cousin Caroline (not the blonde i've pointed out there) is going through a nasty divorce, and Greg unfortunately had severe work issues. So we had my dad's cousins (my grandmother's neices and nephews), my dad's aunt and uncle, and us.

Shoes! I'm not sure why i was interested in shoes - but i was. The wine was flowing - that may have something to do with it.

The day after - i helped Min clean, then the caterers came by to pick up their stuff and visit for a bit.
