Maura and Terry's Trip to England

Terry and I went to England in June of 2001. We took along my dad's digital camera,
and these are the results. These pictures are currently in alphabetical order -- sometime soon
i will get around to putting them in the correct (chronological) order.

Baby Swans at the Abbotsford Swanner, in Dorset.

The Estuary at Budleigh Salterton (Devon)

A cute baby swan with its bum in the air!

Corge Castle, a gorgeous castle in the south of Dorset.

Corfe Castle was destroyed in the English Civil war by loyalists.

It is unreal that they decided to destroy such a wonderful place.

But it does make a very interesting ruin.

Dartmoor was an amazing place.

A rock outcrop on top of a really big hill (Tor) in Dartmoor. Terry is in this picture somewhere!

The same rock outcrop. It is easy to spot me, because i am the only orange thing :/

Such a gorgeous view.

Wild ponies!

Dartmouth, a lovely little town where the River Dart empties into the English Channel.

The East Budleigh Church -- interesting for a couple of reasons. First, when we were there, they were having a flower festival. The church was filled with gorgeous flowers. Second, it is the church that Sir Walter Raleigh used to attend.

A very pretty English Rose.

The cathedral in Exeter. Apparently it is a wonderful example of gothic architecture.

The ceiling of the Exeter Cathedral. It has an amazing ceilng.

Exeter Cathedral's organ.

The gorgeous stained glass window in Exeter Cathedral.

The flowers that my dad sent my grandmother for her birthday. She turned 87 on June 27th, 2001! That makes her 60 years and 7 months older than me.

A stone age village in Dartmoor.

Us at Stonehenge!

For some reason, i thought that this picture was funny.

My grandmother and her flowers.

A mini tree tunnel in the Budleigh Salterton Estuary.

Old Wardour - A Romantic Ruin

Old Wardour

Old Wardour

The Grotto at Old Wardour. Apparently it was once very fashionable to have a grotto in one's garden :)

The view through one of Old Wardour's Windows

Looking towards Portland in the distance.

The portland lighthouse.

The Pulpit - a famous rock outcrop at Portland's Bill

A stone aged bridge in Postbridge, Dartmoor

Salisbury Cathedral

The cloisters of Salisbury Cathedral

A big field of sheep! We stopped so suddenly to take this picture that we may have screwed up the brakes on our (very old) rental car.

A wild Dartmoor sheep.

A momma sheep and baby sheep in Dartmoor.

Sheep at the side of the road

We really like the sheep!

Stonehenge. Why is it always cloudy in pictures of Stonehenge?

Stonehenge. Strange. It was much smaller than i expected it to be.

More stonehenge.

A beautiful swan.

Baby swans in a bowl at the Abbottsford Swannery :)

Spreading her wings

Terry in Old Wardour

Terry in my grandmother's garden.

Terry reclining in Dartmoor

A house currently in the process of being thatched.
